Guys, I’ve officially fallen in love with oBike.
Bright yellow, glittery and beautiful, my eyes filled with tears as I sat on the most amazing invention on Earth. I put my feet on the pedals, *cues godly music*, started pedalling, and the bike actually moved forward. THAT’S RIGHT, I CAN CYCLE NOW!!!
I felt so happy when I could cycle again 🙂 Thank you oBike for being free and for giving me $3 for signing up HAHAH *100% NOT SPONSORED FOR THIS OKAY*
ANYWAYS, I’D LIKE TO WISH MYSELF
A HAPPY 2ND MONTHSARY KNEE!!!
I haven’t given my knee a name yet, so if you have some fantastic suggestions hmu before my 3rd monthsary HAHAHA And also a shoutout to all the ACL torn friends, you guys GOT THIS 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
If you’re wondering why I’m being so DRAMATIC, it’s because I had an ACL Operation on 19th April, and I’d been home bound for the longest time. So being able to walk and cycle is a real milestone in this recovery phase.

Hopefully I can start running in one month’s time!
This month was pretty eventful with Mixed Nationals, which I assume is the most looked forward to local tournament since there is no Singapore Ultimate Opens this time round. It was burning hot and I swear any ice cream would melt in seconds.
I was with Alliance, an Ultimate Frisbee team built purely on friendship and a mad love for Ultimate Frisbee. We were basically Qian Shen (Team CJC) and Polar Pirates (Team SAJC) mashed together — hence the name Alliance! Knowing each other since junior college, most of us have been pretty good friends for 3 to 4 years at least? I’m neither from CJC or SAJC, but I’m a lucky bum that got accepted into the fam somehow 🙂
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL @ PAPUA NEW GUINEA
Apart from frisbee things, I’m also super happy to share about my international friend, Sian Wedd from when I studied abroad!!!
I studied overseas in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG) when I was younger, and double schooled in Singapore and PNG for 4 years (a nice way of saying we were real nerds). I only got to study there because my father got a job in PNG, and our fam moved over to be with him. After experiencing the whole ‘migrating’ and studying abroad thing, I really hope I can give my kids this opportunity in the future KEKEKE 🙂
Sian and I schooled in The Ela Murray International School (TEMIS), and it was largely populated by Australians (including herself). Most of the kids here were expatriates, and the locals in my school were really rich kids 💸💵💰 My family was one of the only Singaporeans there, and it was tough fitting in to this Smiggle-crazy world.
Despite that, Sian was one of my closest friends who tided me through the fitting in phase. In fact, International School was hands down AMAZING, and starkly different from Singapore’s education. Going somewhere else people have never heard of made it TWICE as cool. 😉
Am I a cool kid yet?
Apart from classes, we had swimming lessons, music lessons (like actually fun ones, and not on a recorder), crazy PE lessons, carnivals, Cross Country Day, Independence Day, Valentine’s Day celebrations…
Out of school, we had sleepovers almost every weekend, Halloween parties, excursions to Loloata Island, Singaporean + Malaysian family trips to March Girls Beach… I can’t even begin to name it all!
🙆🏼💫🌦 Definitely a highlight of life thus far 🐳🌻🌸
Sian left PNG and went back to Aussie for good before I came back to Singapore for my O Levels. We haven’t seen each other since then, which is like… 8 years back? I was really close to her mum too because she’s our Mandarin teacher in school 😂 (YANG 老师, 我很想你哦!!!) AND I’D LIKE TO SAY I’M HER BEST STUDENT though I probably didn’t pay much attention in class XD
Since she was in Singapore during the Ramadan Bazaar, I brought her around and damnnnn, we just melted in the heat and crowd. Once a year is definitely enough…
I got her the Ramly Burger (LOVED IT SO MUCH 10/10) and we couldn’t care less about all the Instagrammable food (ft. colourful watermelon & unicorn things). I guess the food is overpriced and the crowds were insane, but we were so lost in each other’s world that we weren’t as caught up about stuffing our tummies.
Time flew when we met on 2 separate occasions, and it was barely enough to catch up on 8 years worth of lost time. Really hope I get to go to AUSSIE soon and meet up with her entire family again!
After meeting an international friend from my long lost past, the travel bug got planted in me again and I’m off planning for quite a few trips soon!!! (which is going to make all my intern pay DISAPPEAR). Oh wells, life is about experiencing the many things in the world right? 😉
